Borboleta’s lashoween Browoween competition
Round 1 with the 10 chosen Lash Artists completing their creative American Horror Story inspired set
A runway Celebration of Creativity and Collaboration
By Crystal Alcaraz, The Lash Reporter
This past weekend, I had the pleasure of attending Borboleta’s 2nd Annual LashOween and 1st Annual BrowOween Runway Competition, a spectacular event held at Borboleta’s headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah. The day was filled with artistry, transformation, and pure creative magic, showcasing some of the most talented lash, brow, makeup, and hair artists in the beauty industry. The competition unfolded in three dynamic rounds. In the first, 10 lash artists were challenged to complete a creative lash set inspired by characters from American Horror Story. With just four hours to bring their vision to life, each artist transformed their model’s eyes into a hauntingly beautiful work of art.Round two shifted the spotlight to 10 talented brow artists, who built upon the lash looks by designing brows that perfectly complemented the chosen American Horror Story character. The collaboration and attention to detail were unmatched as each artist worked to ensure their model’s final look told a complete story. The final round brought in students from Paul Mitchell Salt Lake City and Collectiv Academy, who completed each model’s transformation with makeup and hairstyling. By the end of the competition, every model had undergone a jaw-dropping metamorphosis into their American Horror Story persona and ready to own the runway. Each category was judged separately by a panel of industry experts, including Olivia Tarin, Director of Sales & Education at Borboleta (Lash Judge @liv_tarin ), Rene De La Garza, founder of Brow Down Studios, Brow Down Studio Pro and collab with Borboleta (Brow Judge @skinmaestro ), Heggy Gonzalez, NAHA Winner, Editorial Stylist and MUA (Hair Judge @HeggyHair ), Debra Dietrich, Co-founder and Director of MUSE Beauty & Cosmetics (Makeup Judge @musebeautypro @esumcosmetics ). Their keen eyes and deep understanding of artistry made for a truly fair and inspiring competition. After an intense day of creativity, teamwork, and transformation, the event concluded with a full runway show hosted by Borboleta’s founder, Kimber Jaynes. In front of an audience of 150 guests, the models strutted down the runway, showcasing the incredible collaboration between lash, brow, makeup, and hair professionals. The winners were then announced in an atmosphere filled with celebration and community.LashOween and BrowOween wasn’t just a competition, it was a beautiful reminder of what happens when artists come together to push creative boundaries and uplift one another. Borboleta once again proved why it stands at the heart of innovation and artistry in the beauty industry.Until next time, this is The Lash Reporter, signing off, still in awe of the creativity that lit up Borboleta Headquarters this Halloween season.Lash Artists:
